Starting to write

with Ted Deppe

17 - 19 September 2010

This lively class is a hands-on introduction to the creative process and will take place in a safe, supportive environment. We'll combine instruction and writing exercises to help you generate new material and then help you see ways to develop these starts into stories, poems or personal essays. Everyone has something important to write. Expect a weekend of good surprises, exploration and self-discovery.

Theodore Deppe is the author of four books of poems, including Orpheus on the Red Line (Tupelo, 2009) and Cape Clear: New and Selected Poems (Salmon, 2002). In the U.S. he was awarded two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and a Pushcart Prize. He has been the writer in residence for Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts and the James Merrill House in Stonington, Connecticut. He has lived in Ireland since 2000 and now lives in Galway. He directs a programme that brings writing students from the Stonecoast Masters in Fine Arts programme to study in Ireland.
