Students
will be asked to begin with a blank page and develop a piece of
fiction over the weekend. This may be the beginning of a novel,
short story or other form. The course will concentrate on the
process of writing through various key phases such as experience,
event, memory, story and fiction.
Michael
Harding is a novelist and playwright. His most recent novel
is Bird in the Snow (Lilliput, 2008) and his play The
Tinker's Curse, is currently on tour. He has been writer in
residence at Trinity College, Dublin and writer in association
at the Abbey Theatre. He writes a weekly column, Displaced in
Mullingar, for the Irish Times and is a member of Aosdána.
